Blackface Jena 6 Student
Just when you thought the whole Jena 6 situation couldn’t get any worse, it did. Here we have a group of students from the University of Louisiana at Monroe on a lake re-enacting the whole Jena 6 fight and march. The students used mud from the lake to cover their bodies, so they can look more black.
And if that wasn’t stupid enough, one actually had the nerve to post the video and pictures on her Facebook page. Now there is dump and then there is this dump. Oh, the girl that posted the videos on her page took them down after people started to complain to her and she gave the age old excuses, “were drinking” and things “got a lil out of hand” and the best one ” I promise i’m not racist. i have just as many black friends as i do white. And i love them to death,”. Really, do you now? It’s just sad.
You can check out the article here, which has the photos, can watch the clip below.

I’ve really starting reading these two books that I would highly recommend everyone read also. These are self help books that helps you put your financial life into your own control. They will not only help you became rich, if that’s what you want or just to get your finances in order so you won’t have to live check to check like most Americans.
The first book is: Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice by Dennis Kimbro and Napoleon Hill.
This book takes the principles of successful black entrepreneur and details how you can use them in your everyday life. It is a great read.
The second book is the sequel to Rich dad, Poor dad; Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant by Robert T. Kiyosaki with Sharon L. Lechter, C.P.A.
For everyone that read Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and there are millions of us. You know the knowledge that you will received from this book. In this new edition Kiyosaki mostly deals only with his Rich Dad’s advice on how to put more into assets into your asset column and deals a lot with the great idea of “Pay yourself first”. If you read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and like it. You must read this one.

I know I’ve been missing lately with new posts. But you guys just don’t know (or you might) hard it is to come up with posts that everyone else isn’t writing about. I don’t want B.E.P to be just like every other black blog, talking about the same thing. So that’s why the posts are far and few between.
But just give me a moment to get some personal stuff together and i’ll be back on my grind.
Thanks,
Dame

Starting a new job is hard. Learning a new position, meeting new people, getting adjusted to your new boss. It could really drive a person crazy even before they start working. For some it’s easy, they’re what we call “social butterfly”, meaning they make friends with anyone, anywhere not matter what. They’re the one that’s all cheery and happy at 8am monday morning. Just happy to be at work (am I the only one that dislikes them?).
Then there the people like me. Who isn’t too happy to be at work, not because they don’t like the job, but just because it’s just too damn early in the morning to be working. Adding that you might be the shy quiet type (like me once again  ), you really don’t like have a bunch of people in your ear so early. Just give me till 10am and I’ll be the happy go lucky guy everyone seems to love again lol.
But I somewhat digressed there from what this post is really about. Making friends at work or better yet Networking at work. Sure from about 8-10am I’m not the most social person in the world (who is at that time?) but I do know that I can’t act that way for the whole day. You have to get out of your cubicle sometimes to see and speak to the other people who are around you. Why? because you never know when or if you will ever need one of those peoples hands in helping you advance in your career.
So courtesy of Careerbuilder.com here are a few folks in you work place that you should really get to know.
The Gatekeepers
“While some of your less savvy co-workers might focus all their energy on flattering the higher-ups, the company’s executive or administrative assistants are often the ones who actually run much of the show, albeit behind the scenes.”
The Grapevine Monitor
“Unlike the dirt-dishing gossip, who delights in spreading “juicy” tales of trivial interoffice melodrama, the grapevine monitor is acutely aware of the office’s relevant developments and political undercurrents.”
The Well-Connected Social Butterfly
“There is typically at least one individual in every company who seems to know — and get along with — everyone else. Acquaint yourself with this person.”
The Cool-Headed Veteran
“The cool-headed veteran is not identified by age but by experience and temperament. In times of high pressure and tight deadlines, this steady professional weathers the storm with efficiency and poise.”
